It's not about finding the film the director hasn't mentioned it's just about providing info about something that you may not have known before. I started out winging it but realized that I'd rather write the segments than bullet point it. Because right now it seems a weird mix of wandering for something to say and then suddenly there's a focused subject, then rinse repeat. Or if you want both styles, maybe think about pre-producing things like The Thing segment and make it clear you're going into a segment. I would say, either write it all or don't write anything.

It seemed like between dedicated topics, like before you talked about The Thing and Hateful Eight for instance, you had written the "conversational" stuff and were kind of pretending to stumble through it conversationally (which is distracting)-then when you actually got into a subject, the writing and narrating felt more focused and concise. I say that because, I would think the general public would think: who needs another nerd podcast about movies and video games? What makes this one "special"?īut, a pre-written documentary style NPR type podcast can be good. Like why not do a pair of movies where one director has denied influence of another, for instance? Point being, your PERSONAL editorial mark on something like that would make it more interesting. Like why should we care that Tarantino used The Thing as influence for Hateful Eight and admits it, and then hear from you the examples of the influence? We could just read that ourselves somewhere on the Internet. Because right now it seems a weird mix of wandering for something to say and then suddenly there's a focused subject, then rinse repeat.Īlso, with things like The Thing segment, I would think about mentioning pairs of movies where you have found likenesses that a director HASNT acknowledged them, or better yet, denied them. Or pre-produce things like The Thing Segment and make it clear you're going into a segment. It seemed like between "segments," like before you talked about The Thing and Hateful Eight for instance, you had written that and were kind of pretending to stumble through it conversationally-then when you actually got into a subject, the writing and narrating felt more focused and concise. It all seemed written whether that was what you were going for or not, and there were many words you repeated too close together, etc. I would say that if you are planning on going it solo, definitely spend a little time tightening up the writing. I don't know if you want any constructive feedback on your podcast-if you even know what it's going to be yet beyond that pilot episode. Let me know who you are and we will get it sorted out.Įdit - I'll keep this going for a while so keep at. Also have a couple of Patrice poster AP's for the first few subs to my Patreon. Leave a NICE comment on YouTube or Patreon for your shot at one. I also have a few of Mondo's The Thing "Outpost 31" patches to give away. I will also field questions about Rampart. Pancakes House is a podcast about all things Pop-Culture. In this premier episode of Pancakes House we return a 2:30am call to ex- Opie & Anthony shock jock Anthony Cumia, ponder why we still watch Walking Dead, take a look at whats up at MondoTees and Waxwork Records, examine how John Carpenter's "The Thing" and Tarantino's "Hateful Eight" are pretty much cousins and is Annihilation "too smart" for the audience? More relevant content, better artwork and higher production value than CP Media or J&S.

The two end up rekindling their high school romance as Martin reveals to Debi the truth about his life.Just looking to promote my shekel free podcast. A lot of adventure and action ensues as Martin reconnects with his former classmates and especially Debi. Martin is also sought after by his biggest assassin rival, “Grocer”, who wants Martin to join the “Assassin’s Union”. With federal agents and another assassin after him, Martin reunites with old friends including his old flame Debi Newberry (Minnie Driver). In the meantime, Martin is given an assignment for a hit in his hometown at the same time as his reunion.

His psychiatrist recommends that he attend his 10 year high school reunion and reconnect with his old life. Ten years later, Martin becomes disillusioned with his career choice and begins to fumble his hits. The army psych tests indicated that Martin would make a good CIA assassin, but Martin decided to freelance as an assassin instead. Martin grew up in Gross Pointe, Michigan and enlisted in the army. 1997’s Gross Pointe Blank combines the criminal action of a paid assassin with romantic comedy and a high school reunion.
